How to Simply Inspect Pressure Sensor with Multimeter
Pressure sensor belongs to a kind of pressure instrument. It is usually checked when it is produced. Some customers are accustomed to checking when they get pressure sensor. But customers usually do not have systematic devices to check, and they usually use multimeter to do simple checks. How to make a simple check with a multimeter?
Pressure Sensor Inspection by Multimeter
The pressure transducer can only be checked by multimeter, and the results are only for reference. There are roughly three checks, bridge circuit checking, mainly checking whether the sensor circuit is correct, generally Whiston full bridge circuit, using the ohmic gear of the multimeter, the impedance between the input terminal and the display terminal, these two impedance are the input and display impedance of the pressure sensor.
If the impedance is infinite, the bridge is disconnected, indicating that the sensor has a problem or the pin definition is not correct. Zero check, check the zero display of the sensor without applying pressure with the voltage of the multimeter. This display is usually mV level voltage. If it exceeds the technical specifications of the sensor, it indicates that the zero deviation of the sensor exceeds the range.
Pressure check, check list method is: to supply power to the sensor, blow the pressure sensor's air guide hole with the mouth, check the voltage change of the sensor's display terminal with the multimeter's voltage stop. If the relative sensitivity of the pressure sensor is very large, the change will be obvious. If there is no change at all, pressure will need to be applied with a pneumatic source.
Through the above methods, we can basically check the general condition of a pressure sensor. If exact inspection is needed, the sensor should be calibrated with standard pressure source according to the magnitude of pressure and the change of signal. And when the conditions permit, the temperature of the relevant parameters is checked.
In a word, the inspection of pressure sensor is a responsible task. Multimeter can be used for general inspection. It can be applied in many cases. However, if the pressure sensor is required to be used in strict environment, systematic inspection must be carried out.
