Description
Optima Plus is a Zone 1 hazardous location-certified flammable
infrared gas detector. Infrared gas detectors are ideal suited for
applications where the detector is exposed to harsh environmental
conditions or where catalytic poisons are routinely present.
Optima Plus combines excellent speed of response, unsurpassed
reliability and simple routine maintenance. Two base versions are
available; hydrocarbon andethylene units between them covering a
wide range of detectable hydrocarbons, including solvents.
Optima
Plus carries internationally recognised approvals for both hazardous
locations and performance, including European (ATEX), international
(IECEx), North America (UL), Canada (CSA and FM), Marine (MED, BV,
DNV, Lloyds and ABS) and Russia (Eurasian Customs Union).
Additionally Optima Plus has been approved to SIL2 by renowned
certification body TÜV Rheinland.
Optima Plus is available with HART® over 4-20mA output and is
registered with the HART® Communication Foundation. This
communication protocol delivers enhanced diagnostic information
either local to the detector using the optional OELD smart junction
box or back at the control room. The information provided can be
used to better plan and execute maintenance operations.

The Optima Excel Local Display (OELD) is a smart junction box for
the Searchpoint Optima Plus and Searchline Excel infrared detectors
for flammable hydrocarbons. Please refer to the chapter 26 for the
OELD (Optima Excel Local Display).
Various termination units are offered for use with the Optima Plus
and need to be ordered separately. These provide a range of
mounting and field wiring options ranging from standard Ex e
termination units, through to the UL-approved DX100 termination
unit and the XNX Universal Transmitter. For the direct connection
to the Optima system using the SHC-1 handheld interrogator, the
SHC protection device module must be used. Other accessories
include Duct Mounting kits, Sunshades/Deluge Protections,
Storm Baffles and Gassing Caps.
A full range of optional accessories are available for use with
the Optima Plus gas detector, including junction boxes, duct
mounting kits, test and calibration accessories, hazardous
location-approved plastic storm baffle. All detectors are supplied
with the accessories indicated together with a printed quick start
guide and CD-ROM.
