Dust particle counter flow size difference


Common flow rates: 2.83L, 28.3L, 50L, 100L / Flow rate = liters of air inhaled per minute.
1. Sampling speed (the most intuitive difference)

- The greater the flow rate → the faster the air intake, and the shorter the time required to measure the same point.

Similarly, 100L of air needs to be sampled - 2.83L: requires 35 minutes.

- 100L: Just 1 minute for third-party testing and multi-point inspection, saving significant time with high flow rates.

2. Data stability in low-particle environments (high-cleanliness rooms)  
The higher the cleanliness level, the fewer dust particles in the air

Particles are extremely rare (Class 100/ISO 1-5) - Low flow rate: Very few particles are captured per minute, with significant fluctuations in readings and unreliable statistics.

- High flow rate (50L, 100L): Collects more air and captures more particles in the same time, resulting in more stable data that meets ISO14644 and GMP acceptance requirements.
For the acceptance of high-grade cleanrooms, high airflow is essential; otherwise, the sampling volume will be insufficient, leading to non-compliant reports.

3. Differences in the equipment itself

- Low flow (2.83L): Lightweight, portable, and affordable, suitable for routine inspections; lack

- High flow rate (50L, 100L): High pump power, heavier machine, higher price; more complex air circuit structure

The complexity requires higher demands on pumps and flow sensors.

4. Applicable Scenarios

- 2.83L: C/D-grade clean area, general laboratory, internal self-inspection and patrol.
- 28.3L: Pharmaceutical Grade B, Standard Cleanroom Acceptance, Industry Classic Model.
- 50L, 100L: Third-party testing, Grade A/B class cleanrooms, large-scale factory acceptance, rapid sampling, meeting the minimum sampling requirements of national standards.

⚠️Minor Flaws (High Traffic Is Not a Panacea)

In a typical room with high dust levels, inhaling a large amount of particles in a short time with high flow rates can lead to particle overlap, where multiple particles simultaneously enter the optical path, resulting in undercounting. In such scenarios, a low flow rate is more suitable.
