Biological Safety Cabinets - Protecting Personnel and Samples
Biological safety cabinets are designed to protect workers, laboratory environments, and experimental products from exposure to infectious materials such as primary cultures, strains, and diagnostic specimens during manipulations. It produces infectious aerosols and spills. The operating area is under negative pressure and only needs to be vented to the outside. Of course, the pathogens are not directly discharged outside, but filtered on the top of the biological safety cabinet on the equipment. From the exhaust volume, it can be divided into 30% external exhaust type and 100% external exhaust type.
Clean Bench - Protecting Samples
The decontamination bench is designed to protect the specimen or product. By blowing vertical or horizontal laminar air into the work area, the test item or product can become contaminated with dust or bacteria outside the work area. Once the microbial sample is placed in the work area, the laminar air will cause the air with the microbial medium to be blown to the front desk personnel.
Fume hoods are designed to remove corrosive chemical gases and toxic fumes during chemical experiments. Harmful gases are emitted, and laboratory equipment is used for cleaning and discharge during experiments. Fume hoods cannot effectively remove microbial media because they are not equipped with HEPA filters. Microbial samples placed in a laminar flow fume hood will spread into storage tanks and contaminate the laboratory environment.
