Keithley 236 Source Measure Unit

The Keithley Model 236, 237 and 238 Source-Measure Units (SMUs) are fully programmable instruments capable of sourcing and measuring voltage or current simultaneously. Their sensitivity and large dynamic range permit accurate characterization of properties such as insulation resistance, leakage current, and dissipation factors in applications ranging from general test to semiconductors to materials testing. Selectable integration and filtering of multiple measurements and a current sensitivity of 10fA provide performance equal to an electrometer for demanding applications. The Model 236, 237 and 238 outputs and inputs are fully guarded, and the units are configured to allow two-terminal or four-terminal measurements. Push button suppression allows making relative measurements with respect to a baseline or canceling background signals. Suppression for a particular measurement may be any value within the instrument's specified operating range. 
Source-Measure architecture eliminates complicated system integration problems often encountered with individual sources and meters, and is more space efficient and economical than separate components. The SMU's short set-up time and simplified programming are indispensable for tests that must be up and running quickly, especially those that change frequently.
These instruments address a wide variety of applications, including the characterization of semiconductor devices and the measurement of leakage currents or insulation resistance. They are particularly useful as source and measuring instruments in automated test equipment (ATE).
Wide Dynamic Range
The Model 236 will source voltage from 100µV to 110V, and current from 100fA to 100mA. It can also measure voltage from 10µV to 110V and current from 10fA to 100mA.
