How to use the HP8753D Network Analyzer
When measuring with the HP8753D network analyzer, first, the cable connector, impedance converter, standing wave bridge, and matching load should be strictly distinguished between the 75Ω and 50Ω characteristic impedances, and the outer diameter and the connecting thread are the same, which is confusing. Avoid connecting a 75Ω male head to a 50Ω female head. This will cause the circuit to be discontinuous and cannot be tested. Also, avoid connecting the 50Ω male head to the 75Ω female head, as this will completely damage the 75Ω female socket.
Secondly, the impedance converter, matching load, standing wave bridge and measuring probe should be handled with care and kept safely to prevent falling from high places and affecting their performance and final measurement results. When each device is connected, pay attention to the method of connecting and rotating. Only the movable nut can be rotated to ensure linear movement of the pin and the jack. Otherwise, the pins and jacks will spiral and accelerate wear, and it is likely that the HP8753D network analyzer's internal pin is loose and cannot be used properly. After the cable connector is installed, carefully check that the pin is in the center. If necessary, try to correct it so that it is centered to avoid damage to the connector jack to be connected.
