Eurofresh Farms, the leading year-round producer and marketer of greenhouse tomatoes in the United States, has made record contributions to the Arizona communities surrounding Willcox and Snowflake throughout 2008, helping local non-profit organizations, youth sports programs, schools and fundraising events succeed in the down economy.

"Cochise, Graham and Navajo County have all contributed so much to Eurofresh Farms since our operations have been part of their communities," said Dwight Ferguson, chief executive officer of Eurofresh Farms. "Our company is committed to the state of Arizona and we are proud to work together with local organizations to make a positive difference."

Eurofresh Farms worked closely with the Community Food Bank to distribute its greenhouse produce throughout Southern Arizona, ensuring people in need received fresh and safe vegetables to stay healthy. The Arizona grower also collaborated with the Arizona Barbeque Association, Rex Allen Committee, Graham County Chamber of Commerce, Willcox High School and Northern Cochi******munity Hospital to bring attention to community needs.

"Our major events that bring attention and revenue to Snowflake and other portions of Navajo County wouldn't be as successful without Eurofresh Farms' help," said Shanna Shreeve, partner of the Arizona Barbeque Association. "We are proud that an Arizona Grown company can help the state prosper and truly give back."

The record community contributions follow a long series of company successes at Eurofresh Farms, including properly informing customers on how to identify safe produce during the salmonella scare during the summer of 2008; winning the ChefsBest award for America's Best Tasting Tomato for more than 10 consecutive years; and projected record sales of Eurofresh Farms' Campari tomato variety.

The company also recently won the 2008 Category Captain award in the Variable/Fixed Produce category from Progressive Grocer, a leading trade magazine for the food and beverage industry.

As the highest mark of distinction presented by the leading trade magazine for the food and beverage industry, Eurofresh Farms and other innovative companies was recognized in Progressive Grocer's November 2008 issue.

"Our dedicated employees make it possible for Eurofresh Farms to obtain honors like the Progressive Grocer Category Captain award," said Dwight Ferguson, chief executive officer of Eurofresh Farms. "We are pleased to be recognized by such a reputable publication and will continue to strive for future success."

Eurofresh Farms' ability to inform customers of tomato safety during the salmonella scare during the summer of 2008, while increasing sales of all tomato and cucumber varieties for the calendar year, was a large dynamic in meeting Progressive Grocer's award criteria. Other specific factors for the award selection include introducing mini-cucumber and grape tomato varieties with positive consumer feedback and setting company-wide initiatives to increase the concentration of recycled and biodegradable materials in all produce packaging.

"Eurofresh Farms did an outstanding job of meeting Progressive Grocer's Category Captain criteria, which includes product innovation, consumer insights, use of dynamic category management tools, commitment to meeting retail customers' specific needs and real-world results," said Stephen Dowdell, editor-in-chief for Progressive Grocer magazine.

Eurofresh Farms also recently launched its new corporate Web site (www.eurofresh.com ) to showcase the company's complete produce line of greenhouse grown tomatoes and cucumbers for trade customers and consumers.

Created by DMA Solutions, Inc. of Irving, Texas, the redesigned Web site also provides expanded information on Eurofresh Farms' history, sustainability programs and recipes that incorporate Eurofresh Farms' award-winning produce.

"As a result of rapidly increasing consumer demand for our products, we feel that the timing is right to provide a more content-rich Web site," said Dwight Ferguson, chief executive officer of Eurofresh Farms. "With this redesign, our customers now have an easy-to-use way to research our extensive array of tomatoes and cucumbers across the Eurofresh Farms produce line, as well as uniquely developed recipes for professional chefs and the home cook."

"With a new portal to reach the public, we hope to reach customers more effectively and continue to see increased growth like we have had in 2008," said Ferguson. "This is only a small piece of a larger campaign to continually provide quality jobs in Arizona and premium produce to all Americans."

Eurofresh Farms grows premium quality, certified pesticide-free tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in one of the world's largest greenhou******plexes with abundant Arizona sunlight. Eurofresh's two greenhouses cover more than 318 acres in Willcox and Snowflake, Ariz.
